According to the Ministry of Tourism's statistics, more than 70,000 tourists from China have arrived in the country. The most recent report shows that Chinese tourists make up the largest portion of total tourist arrivals this year, accounting for 10.9% of the overall figure. Up until April 9, there have been 71,136 visitors from China. Following China, Russia, the United Kingdom, Italy, and other countries have also contributed significantly to the number of tourists, with 65,898, 65,731, and 60,709 arrivals, respectively.
Additionally, the statistical data indicates a notable increase in the overall number of tourist arrivals, reaching a total of 650,404 visits so far. This represents a 13.6% growth compared to the same period last year when the country received 572,748 tourists. On average, the Maldives welcomes around 6,265 tourists daily, and these visitors typically spend approximately 8 days during their stay.
Despite already surpassing the six hundred thousand mark in tourist arrivals, the government of the Maldives remains dedicated to its target of attracting two million tourists. To achieve this objective, the government has planned various advertising projects and programs aimed at promoting the Maldives as a premier tourist destination.
