To experience Maldives Island Life you need to take an excursion to an inhabited Maldives Island. This is the way to learn and gain experience about the life of the ordinary Maldivian. These are completely different to your holiday resort islands. Many resorts offer you the chance to take a trip to one of these inhabited islands and I would recommend this. If you are near to Male, the capital city, then take a trip there to experience Maldives Island life in a bust capital city.
The Maldives is a Muslin nation, and the inhabited islands of the locals have different laws to those of your resort. Please respect these when you take a trip out.

Some inhabited Maldives islands are more modern than others, with the walls of the house’s painted in bright colours, some Maldives islands have harbour areas where you can watch the boats come in and out
There are also many fishing villages with trees giving the shade for the day, along with the traditional wooden holhuashi (which is a little like a gazebo). Walk along the beaches and mix with the locals, listening to their tales after a hard day at work. Don’t forget to shop at the local markets where you can pick up local handicrafts.
Once everyone has finished their work for the day, they take their daily showers or bath, dress in fresh clothes and walk around the island, visiting family and friends, taking home made curry dishes with them, or else they take some time out to simply relax and watch the evening sunset
